This is the time for the men, women and children of the village to wear their best clothes and the village is full of color.

These simple ways of life in the village, however, must soon change.

There are few people performing farming and animal husbandry for survival.

However, the majority are professionals with distinct qualifications in various careers.

Whenever there is a dispute, the villagers go to the headman who is held in such esteem that his words have the force of law.

In this way the villagers have developed their own simple laws, and the crimes of cities are almost unknown to the people of the village.It is the home of wild birds which seek refuge on trees surrounding the village.Despite having mixed religion, the presence of prominent temples and a mosque implies the two primary religion in the village.The people are simple and they love and share with one another and live like one big family. They cultivate their own land, producing grains, vegetables and fruits. In a village, one can enjoy the beauty and grandeur of nature.The life in the countryside is simple and innocent. The rising and setting of the sun are beautiful sights to watch. The chirping of birds, the babbling of streams and the soft lowing of cows fill the hearts with joy. Compared to the cities, crimes are less in villages.In various parts of the village, children may be found playing the popular games of the village. Some talk about the day’s incidents in the village, and those whose minds go beyond the village discuss world events.In almost every village there is a headman whose duty is to settle quarrels among the villagers and maintain peace in the village.I am privileged to form an extended member of this great family living in Palampur village.Two rivers surround the village making it look an island.Most great poets have been fascinated and inspired by the country side. In the villages things are quite different from what they are in cities.Natural surroundings, good water, fresh air and relaxed life give energy and make life more enjoyable.
